Luke's Home Page
Welcome to my home page. This once had a serious purpose back in the days
when I was writing web software.
These days its more of a social thing!
Things I get up to now:
- I enjoy singing with
Kingston Choral Society - a 100-strong choir giving four concerts a year in
Kingston. KCS is conducted by
Graham Ross, who took over from
Robin Page in November 2008.
Do come to our next concert if you like classical music!
- And in 2007 I started doing performances with the Royal Festival Hall group called
Voicelab, run by Southbank. Voicelab is directed by
Mary King, known for her TV appearances including coach and judge
on Operatunity and Musicality.
- A huge highlight in Spring 2008 was to sing with Mercury-award-winners
Elbow, as part of a 30-strong male choir
known only as Geoff.
- I still do a bit of running. My glory days were back in 1998 doing the
London Marathon.
More recently I completed the 2009
Leatherhead Surrey Badger Half-Marathon.
- For professional reasons I'm a member of the
British Computer Society
and the
Association for Project Management.
- Qualified in ITIL
- Manager's Certificate in Service Management (Distinction), and in
PRINCE2
- Project Management Practitioner.
- I work for
SHL, a world-leader in the provision of psychometric tests and related services.
I've previously worked for
Prudential,
Morgan Stanley, and
BT.
- My main joy is of course my
leading lady.
Things I've done in the past:
- I sang with
Barts Choir - a 300+ strong choir giving three concerts a year in central London.
This was under the baton of
Ivor Setterfield, seen on television working with The Singing Estate and as coach to Goldie in Maestro.
- I used to do a fair bit of ballroom and latin dancing, particularly at the
Imperial College Dance Club.
- I went to
Pembroke College, Cambridge, and did further study at
Birkbeck College, London.
- I sometimes go walking with some Cantab contemporaries on either the
March March March.
or the May Manea Mania.
- I translated the rules of French board game CROA! into
English. Some ambiguities have been ironed out.
- I wrote a few book summaries in
Haiku.
